Just back from a lovely weekend in Manchester. 19th floor of the Hilton. Swish.

Had a brilliant dinner at the top of here

It's called 'The Modern'

I fell in love with the northern quarter. It's a bit NYC and a bit Shoreditch, only much nearer to us.

This cafe, 'Bread and Butter', sold guinness and choc cake.

I bought some old 501's here

We went to the Lowry to see the Lowry's

Then to the Imperial War Musuem North

I was there last July, just overnight, and for a day before catching my flight back to NZ.
I loved Manchester! I liked the north west part - old buildings and funky shops - I was in the same store you got your 501s from! I stayed at the Britannia Hotel, which unbeknown to me, and was I so delighted to find out, was 5 mins walk from Canal Street, the gay centre.
I am hoping to get back to Manchester at some point for a good look around.
Cheers,
Christopher.
And the Brittania was a great hotel, with a stonking big chandlier in the lobby. Recommended, but bring ear plugs.
