Would it be bold of me to assume that it has stood the test of time for you, or did it just pop up? As a 15-year old in 1988, 'Where Is My Mind?' was like nothing else I had heard at the time, so otherworldly, so sinister-sounding. I have been revisiting 'Trompe Le Monde' of late. Thanks for the memories.

It has certainly stood the test of time. If I didn't know it so well and heard it for the first time today I'd be excited to find out who this 'new band' are. I was lucky enough to see The Pixies during Surfer Rosa era, they were the opening act for Throwing Muses (another band with albums I must revisit).

Those legendary Mean Fiddler gigs? I attended a Bossa Nova-era concert at Hammersmith Odeon in 1990. Not so legendary, I don't believe.

Keep on truckin'.

...Harlesden, if my memory serves me well. So much of a trek that (proprietor) Vince Power upped sticks for the Charing Cross Road, so for a while the Mean Fiddler was a near neighbour of the Astoria. Stomping grounds. I'll crawl back under my stone now. Keep on keeping on.

Remember the sausage machine at a pub in hampsted? Saw suede, 18th dye, crane, gene, jj72 there. Not on the same night tho, how awesome would that have been! Consolidated at the mean fiddler was a riot too. And L7 at ULU.

I never made it to the Sausage Machine, but I know of it and the White Horse pub too (one and the same?). This is so XFM-test transmissions! (halcyon days, before Bob Geldof, Capital Radio etc. got their hands on it)! I was glued to those broadcasts. A musical education. I envy you the Suede! If anything was going to get me crawling out from under my stone, it would have been Suede! Brett's solo stuff is much under-rated (IMHO). I would go so far as to say that his solo performance (with cellist and Roman Polanski's wife!) at the Mermaid Theatre on 07.07.2008 is my favourite ever gig. Right, that stone beckons...
